British artist Tony Hepburn received his training at London University and Camberwell College of Art, U.K., but has made his home in the United States since the 1970‟s. He taught at the Art Institute of Chicago, Carnegie Mellon University, and Lanchester University, UK, before becoming Professor of Ceramics at Alfred University‟s New York College of Ceramics. Following 16 years at Alfred he served as artist in residence and ceramics department head at Cranbrook Academy of Art near Detroit before retiring in 2008. As an artist Hepburn is concerned with transience and place and ultimately change. He has written frequently on ceramics and sculpture, embracing the interdisciplinary crossover occurring in craft both in his writing and in his work.
