Paul Schwarz is noted for his expressive, tightly collaged paintings. He began his studies at the Art School of the Society for Arts and Crafts (now the College for Creative Studies) (1965-68) before entering Wayne State University (1970-73). His work has been exhibited widely in metro-Detroit throughout his lifetime including the vanguard Willis Gallery, Detroit, in 1974 (with Colin Frazer) and 1977.  His work was included in the defining exhibition Kick Out the Jams: Detroit’s Cass Corridor 1963-1977, presented at the Detroit Institute of Arts in 1980 and Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago in 1981. Schwarz was also featured in exhibitions at Cranbrook Art Museum; Flint institute of Art; Wayne State University Art Gallery; Center Galleries, College for Creative Studies; Feigenson Gallery; Feigenson-Rosenstein Gallery; Feigenson-Preston Gallery; Hill Gallery and Paul Kotula Projects. His work may be found in the collections of the Detroit Institute of Arts and Wayne State University as well as many noted private collections.  The artist’s estate is represented by Paul Kotula Projects.
