Rebecca Casement is a multimedia visual artist that creates affective abstract sculptures and installations using ceramics, mixed media, sound, and textiles. Raised in rural Michigan, she cultivated a creative experimentation with materials and making that has carried into her art practice. Her work beautifully calls to attention the experiences in life that alter who we are and how we see the world. With a focus on material language and histories, she creates work that is both emotive and honest.
Rebecca holds an MFA in Studio Art as well as a Certification in College Teaching from Michigan State University. She has been interviewed by several online art blogs and publications including Synthetic Meatball, All She Makes, The Purposeful Mayonnaise, and Visionary Art Collective, and was interviewed by Studio Break Podcast. She was awarded the Glen Arbor Arts Center Artist in Residence and her work has been included in numerous solo, small group, national and international exhibitions.
